There have been thousands of reviews submitted by diners at Croydon's restaurants in the last decade and the Advertiser decided to collate the results of the most reviewed.

The 34 restaurants below all had 50 or more reviews submitted on the website and we used all restaurants that came up when you searched 'Croydon' in TripAdvisor's search bar.

Below are the results, with good news for those who are fans of good old fashioned English grub...

Croydon's TripAdvisor restaurant rankings

34.TGI Friday's, Purley Way

Review by kstevens1988 – "Salads were dry with no dressing, bacon was black, cheese on burgers burnt. My colleagues steak looked like a leather hand bag but he ate it because he was hungry."

33.Bella Italia, George Street, Croydon

Review by wavygravy2015 – "We almost left after the starters but had already ordered mains, which were as disappointing- the duck on my marco polla pizza was fatty and in clumps while my boyfriend's pasta was basically instant macaroni cheese."

32.Cosmo, Purley Way

Review by Anna P - "Oh dear. It was like eating in a supermarket courtyard full of snotty icecream smeared screaming children. Service was nonexistent, ambiance was worse than in a drive in McDonalds."

31.Toby Carvery, Brighton Road, South Croydon

Review by DiEccles – "I particularly enjoy the enormous variety of veggies on offer. No-one would ever prepare so many in their own kitchen so choose from a range of potatoes, peas, red cabbage, cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, braised onions etc."

Review by Amyflo – "The vegetables were a disgrace all indistinguishable from each other. Generally the texture was poor since most were overcooked, and all were watery. The cauliflower cheese was the worst - no flavour atall."

30.Buffalo Bar and Grill, High Street, Croydon

Review by Martin O – "I needed a quick meal whilst visitng Croydon in my powerchair, so rolled into the first place I could access. Wide double doors made easy access, and the staff were very helpful."

Review by Caroline N – "Overall, found this over priced, the food was average, the staff were not very approachable but the service was quick. I had the feeling they were not bothered if we were there or not so shall not bother again!"

29.Zizzi, South End, Croydon

Review by Kerry89 – "I dined here as I liked the decor and also knowing it was part of a realisable chain. I have to say,, the service was very slow and the food was a disappointing 'average'."

Review by EasternEuro – "No surprises. Which is good."

28.Tai Tung, Wing Yip Centre, Purley Way

Review by Linda H – "Sometimes the food is exceptional and sometimes it's mediocre - it's hard to get consistency with dishes which can be too greasy or too dry or not as flavoursome as the last time. Staff are usually grumpy which is a shame, l would expect this from London restaurants."

Review by Julia H – "Dim sum here is great - its cheaper than going to Chinatown and tastes just as good in my opinion!. The service is quick and all the food comes out quickly and efficiently."

27.Frankie and Benny's New York Italian Restaurant and Bar, Purley Way, Croydon

Review by ClaraCosh97 – "I had the meatballs to start, the sauce was lovely rich and spicy and so were the meatballs, however the texture and consistency was quite foul, very processed and grey, not what I'd call an authentic Italian meatball, from my colleagues starters of prawn cocktails and goats cheese bread, very disappointing."

Review by ghost240 – "ive been to frankie and bennies on numerous ocassions and the food has been heavenly the staff have gone out of their way to make u feel welcome and very friendly and also the atmosphere is warm and friendly plus awsome music is wonderful i cant rate this place highly enough you wont be disappointed"

26.Gipsy Moth, Purley Way, Croydon

Review by Ian T – "The last time we ate here everything was rather average. On this occasion, however, it was much improved. Great service, beautifully cooked beef and turkey, decent roasties and well cooked veg. Nice people, good food, well priced."

Review by Davesparky – "Will never return and would strongly advise others not too bother- there are plenty of decent gastro pubs around and there is no need to put up with this level of incompetence and arrogance- in 2 words DONT BOTHER"

25.The Treehouse, South End, Croydon

Review by GaliaMK – "We really enjoyed this place. We went for dinner. First of all our waitress was super nice and the food really tasty. We shared a carpaccio with arugula, a spicy chicken, a chocolate dessert and a bottle of wine. Everything was very good, and enough for two!"

Review by FishyWood – "With all the quality restaurants in South Croydon I am amazed that this place is still limping along - I completely regret going there and will never return again if it remains in this current guise."

24.Miso Noodle Bar, George Street, Croydon

Review by Emma V – "Great value fast food with the option to eat in. The portions are very generous and the prices are really reasonable. The decor is basic and the atmosphere is slightly lacking."

23.Rodizio Preto, High Street, Croydon

Review by Kwaichi – "I had a very good meal with my buddy eating tender spit roasted steaks. We had about 7 different cuts delivered to our table. The steaks come out all the time and you have these cards to let the staff know if you want more or not."

22.Coombe Lodge, Coombe Road, Croydon

Review by MrsStocking – "Brilliant place for a family meal. Great for meat lovers, good for a Sunday dinner. Good for couples Would strongly advise that you don't book in large numbers because it can become very cramped and there isnt enough staff to cater for you all so you would need to be prepared to wait a little while longer than usual."

21.The Glamorgan, Cherry Orchard Road, Croydon

Review by ChristoPM – "This place is fantastic. Walking past it you wouldn't assume there was anything special inside - and that's a good thing. If it looked anywhere near as special as it's food is it would be booked out for years! It's a South African themed eatery with ample space for dining out back."

20.Aqua Brasserie, South End, Croydon

Review by Wayne B – "Visit Aqua on Sunday lunch, wonderful meal and great value, the food itself was excellent, lots of choice and good size portions. The staff were very welcoming, the whole experience was really good. Definitely recommend."

19.Ponte Nuovo, High Street, Croydon

Review by varun_mukthi – "Went in for a dinner service on a weekday. The ambience and the décor is very neutral and pleasing to the eye. Good choices of drinks. Food wise it was good too.Service was a bit cold and can be improved, but nothing drastic."

18.Khyber Restaurant, High Street, Croydon

Review by Amanda K – "We have been visiting The Khyber for years, in both it's present modern format and before when Mr Khalique was the owner. The food has been given a modern twist with tasty offerings such as goat biryani and curried lamb shank."

17.The George, George Street, Croydon

Review by Anna P – "The menu is decent. The prices are very reasonable. Ribs are very good. Not bad at all actually, and, very generous, comforting portions."

16.Tiger Tiger, High Street, Croydon

Review by wimbledonheat – "My company booked a Christmas party with the sales team and manager they was all extremely helpful, the food was fabulous but most of all I wanted to write to say that we don't come to Croydon very often as it is not the best known place to feel safe however there was a slight problem with a group of lads and the doorman handled the situation fantastically."

15.Singapore Orchid, Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon

Review by APWithane – "The restaurant is small very cosy location in Coulsdon. Its not fancy or modern but very welcoming...The food was fantastic! We ordered some vegetarian dishes, being of course vegetarian... The Nasi Lemak was our favorite... The Vegetarian Lamb Curry wasn't that great but the Kung Pao Paneer made up for it..."

14.Fushia, Brighton Road, South Croydon

Review by jhrathband27 – "Fantastic food and really great atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and the food is tasty. Excellent overall"

13.Apatura Bar Restaurant and Grill, South End, Croydon

Review by Annette M – "Not being local my husband and i choose this restaurant after walking up and down the main street looking at all the restaurant menus, We originally was not going to pick this place because it did not look like it had atmosphere, but i am glad we did. The meal here was absolutely delicious, we had 3 courses each, a bottle of wine and 2 half lagers for £66 so fantastic value."

12.Sangri, High Street, Croydon

Review by Pablo M – "I have eaten here on numerous occasions and have never had a bad experience. When looking for somewhere reliable to take my parents for a good meal I looked no further than here. If they are doing the blackened cod I can highly recommend."

11.Wagamama, Park Lane, Croydon

Review by Dan_Traffic - "I know Wagamama is a chain, and you're supposed to get the same wherever you go. However, I have been to several and this one is certainly the best in terms of both food and service. Food is served piping hot and full of flavour, served lightening fast by friendly and attentive staff, without seemingly compromising on quality."

10.Galicia, South End, Croydon

Review by Nicola B – "Went for dinner last Friday night, it is a big restaurant and was pretty busy but we were seated straight away and it was a great atmosphere, which seemed very authentic. We had a couple of Estrella Galicia beers then I think it was Alborino white wine which was lovely. We went for tapas but they do mains too we had good sized portions of tortilla, allioli potatoes, mmmmmmonkfish, mmmmmmussels, crunchy croquettes, salad, chorizo and aubergines."

9.Albert's Table, South End, Croydon

Review by Andy C – "I have now visited Albert's Table on many occasions and have all ways received impeccable service by friendly staff. The standard of food is constantly fantastic and very taste. I have even been with a large group and not a single fault. I highly recommend Albert's Table. If you enjoy good tasting food then this is the place. Defiantly the best restaurant around for miles. Keep up the good work and many Thanks."

8.Le Chateau, Coombe Lane, Croydon

Review by Ivan S – "I have been a regular diner at this restaurant for 25 years I started going for our works christmas dinner and have also used it for business lunches and on special occasions. The food has always been superb and unlike a lot of places I have been to you are not rushed to finish your meal. It has a full and varied menu which has catered for everyone I have taken.I have recommended it to many of my friends and have never had anything but compliments back from them."

7.Little Bay Restaurant, Selsdon Road, Croydon

Review by Emily W – "I had previously been here but my boyfriend took me recently for my birthday and was not disappointed. Both times the quality of food and service was excellent. The chicken was beautiful and the quality of puddings was so high I wanted to have them all. As a theatre fan the cosy novel surroundings were an added bonus!"

6. Bagattis, South End, Croydon

Review by Linda H – "We have been dining at bagattis for many years and have seen many restaurants along south end come and go. We decided to celebrate my husband's birthday, requesting a table not near the door which was met to my delight as it was a cold night. Extensive menu something for everyone, pasta, mussels and pizza were delicious. Service with a smile although you do have to wait longer than usual when busy. Great atmosphere and would visit again."

5. Nineteen at Farleigh, Old Farleigh Road, Croydon

Review by Pamela P – "I met an old friend for lunch and suggested Farleigh. What a great location - long drive past the fairways to a really hidden jem of a club house. bar and restaurant. The decor is lovely with comfortable settees and chairs, TV's, and a well stocked bar. Also has a Proshop and beautiful views over the two golf courses. Good menu of very reasonable dishes - I had the Fish and Chips and my friend had the Hamburger but there was a lot more to choose from including Liver, two or three choices of all day breakfasts and lighter snacks. Also a very impressive afternoon tea. We had Two meals, Beers and an excellent expresso coffee for under £30. Service was very friendly and staff were well trained. All in all 10 out of 10"

4.Cote D'Azur, Selsdon Road, Croydon

Review by maria c – "first visit today must say i was very impressed with the service and the food the waitress and waiter were utterly delight full and the prices were very good even with the service charge added on my prawn starter was 4 huge prawns in batter which was crisp and very hot had to share them with one of my friends amazingly good my lamb was even better and pudding was rich chocolate brownies oh so good def will be going back for my birthday and my friends in April can't wait will have to visit sooner with some other excuse"

Review by babybart – "As always the food is spot on here and the service is amazing myself and partner have been coming here since it opened we even had my sisters 30th birthday party here and everyone commented how good the service and food is and the prices are good aswell you will definitely get value for more and walk away with a smile."

2.Karnavar, South End, Croydon

Review by Sumikk – "We have been to many Indian restaurants and never came across such a gem of a restaurant with delicious and authentic food.We had gone for the Sunday Brunch at Karnavar. The food starting from appetizers to dessert was truly scrumptious. Also the presentation of the food was top-notch. We also met the chef who was behind the live cooking station and was doling out delicious Uthappams. I had Adaipradhaman for dessert which is one of my favorites and I couldn't get enough of it! The atmosphere with the Live music was very relaxing and we three (including our little one) had a very good time and are already looking forward to another visit."

1.McDermott's, Featherbed Lane, Forestdale

Review by Pinkfing – "When I was a child there was a Mcdermotts in central Croydon that I have such fond memories of visiting. All the little touches like the dishes of pickles and fresh bread, not to mention the lovely fish and chips! They've long since closed that location and to my shame I had never made the effort to visit the Forestdale branch. But we did tonight and I'm so happy to say that it was everything I remembered and more! Welcoming, Friendly, attentive staff, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. We will be making this a regular outing. Thank you so much for not changing what made you great :)"
