ALAN Pardew is delighted to land free agent Shola Ameobi following his release from Turkish outfit Gaziantep BB.
The 33-year-old has agreed a deal until the end of the season and becomes the manager's sixth available striker in the squad.
Pardew believes Ameobi's experience will help the younger players at Selhurst Park and provide a more physical threat in attack.
"He's signed today, Shola," said Pardew.
"He joins us and will bring a wealth of experience to a young group of strikers along with Glenn Murray.
"The difference with Shola is he's played at the top level more or less all his life and I think that experience will be important in this run-in.
"I am really pleased to have him, not just as a player but as a character and person at the training ground.
"Shola's deal will run until the end of the season."
