SHOLA Ameobi says he "can't wait" to play in front of the Palace fans once he's up to speed with his fitness after signing a deal until the end of the season.
Speaking exclusively to the Advertiser, the 33-year-old, who left Newcastle United last summer after 14-and-a-half years in the first team on Tyneside, is working hard on his own at the moment.
Ameobi is yet to join in full training with the Palace squad but doesn't think it will be too long until he pulls on the famous red and blue shirt at Selhurst Park.
"I am definitely looking forward to playing in front of the fans here," he said.
"Coming from Newcastle and the passionate support they have up there, when I've come down here with them, you could feel the buzz at Selhurst Park and the love the fans have for football.
"As a player, you want that support from the fans and to have that means so much.
"Speaking to the Palace lads, they have spoken about the fans to me. I can't wait to get out there."
Don't miss the big interview with Ameobi in full, only in Friday's Croydon Advertiser.
