A TEENAGER is to appear in court accused of trying to abduct a child from a school in Thornton Heath.
The 17-year-old is alleged to have turned up at Beulah Junior School, in Beulah Road, on July 21.
He told staff he was there to collect a child but when teachers spoke to the pupil he said he did not recognise the man, who left before he could be questioned further.
Staff contacted the police and on August 14 a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested.
He appeared before Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court last Thursday charged with attempted abduction and was remanded in custody until a bail application hearing at the youth court in Croydon tomorrow (August 28).
