MAYOR of London Boris Johnson is due to launch his latest binge-drinking crackdown in Croydon this morning (Thursday).
Croydon Magistrates' Court has been chosen as the venue to unveil the mayor's sobriety "tag" programme for binge drinkers.
The scheme will involve offenders convicted of persistent drink-related offences such assault or criminal damage being given ankle tags that will be used to monitor the body for alcohol.
If the offenders continue to drink alcohol, they will be brought before a judge or magistrate who will consider further punishments.
The mayor is due to be joined by Croydon and Sutton London Assembly member Steve O' Connell.
