THE trial of a man accused of attempting to murder his former business partner nearly seven years ago has been adjourned.
Husamettin Selimoglu, 52, allegedly attacked the man outside the Anatolian Community Social and Cultural Centre in London Road, West Croydon, on December 29, 2007.
He fled the UK and was eventually traced to Amsterdam where he was arrested on November 3, 2013.
Selimoglu was extradited back to the UK in January and charged with attempted murder.
He was due to stand trial today (June 7) but the case has now been moved to December 1. It is expected to last two weeks.
The Turkish national is accused of attacking a 42-year-old man who suffered serious head injuries in a fight outside the community centre. It is alleged a ten-inch knife was used during the attack.
He was traced by officers from Croydon's Wanted Offender Unit and a European Arrest Warrant was issued, leading him to be arrested by Dutch police.
