CRYSTAL Palace were offered the chance to play Italian giants Napoli in pre-season, two weeks ahead of the first game of the new campaign against Arsenal, the Advertiser can reveal.
However, Napoli's offer came shortly after the game at Brentford had already been organised for August 2, the same date the Italians had suggested.
Furthermore, it is believed the deal was to play the game at Selhurst Park, but due to the work on the new pitch, it would not have been possible.
The Eagles are, however, looking to play one more friendly on August 9, one week ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium.
The Advertiser has been told a match is unlikely to be abroad, yet the Football League season kicks off on August 9, so it will be interesting to see who they can arrange something with.
