SONG-WRITING legend Tony Hatch has been added to the line-up at Saturday's Crystal Palace Overground Festival main event being held in Westow Park.
He has often been referred to as the British Burt Bacharach, and was responsible for composing, producing and arranging a string of international hits made famous by Petula Clark, Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul McCartney and Shirley Bassey.
But Hatch is also well-known for composing several much-loved TV theme tunes, including Australian soap opera Neighbours, Emmerdale, and Sportsnight.
The musician, 74, said he is "delighted" to perform at the event which is being overseen by his son Darren, owner of SLR event production services, who are providing the main stage PA.
Previous guests to the festival have included Jim Bob, best known as the singer of indie band Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, and the comedian, author and broadcaster, Mark Steel.
With the line-up confirmed, the headliners of the Crystal Palace Overground Festival have been announced as punk/folk rockers Saltdog.
Now in its eighth year, the festival, which is located in Crystal Palace and the Upper Norwood Triangle until Sunday, is taking this year's event to the next level with four days of festivities and 172 performers and artistes taking part.
The festival programme also includes a table tennis competition, markets, spoken word, art trails, light shows, DJs, barbecues, barn dances, cider festival, comedy, sports, film and vintage goods.
