POLICE cordoned off the former Red Deer pub due to concerns scaffolding was unsafe.
Officers were called at 5.30pm yesterday (Saturday) to the landmark building in Brighton Road.
Construction crews then attended and police left the scene, a Met spokesman said.
None of the structure or building fell, he added. There were no injuries.
Motorists reported heavy traffic along Brighton Road as drivers and buses were diverted.
The premises is due to become a Morrisons supermarket early next year.
