THE headteacher of Coloma Convent met the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street last week after she was specially selected by her MP.

Maureen Martin, who has been in charge at Coloma for more than two decades, was picked by Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell to meet David Cameron at a special reception for teachers from across the country last Wednesday (February 11).

Mrs Martin, who has led the school to 'Outstanding' Ofsted status, is also executive principal at Selsdon's Quest Academy, which is run by the Coloma Trust.

The trust has also been chosen as the sponsor for Archbishop Lanfranc.

Mr Barwell said: "I have a huge amount of respect for anyone who devotes their life to shaping the future of our young people and I can think of no better way of honouring the profession than to invite Maureen to Downing Street."
