AN ELDERLY woman has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being involved in a collision with a car near a busy London Road junction this evening (February 11).
Police were called to reports that a woman in her sixties was involved in the collision on Bensham lane, near the junction with London Road at 6.45pm.
A police spokesman said the woman was conscious and breathing when she was taken to a south London hospital by London Ambulance Service.
London Road remains closed around the junction, though it was expected to reopen shortly as of 8.30pm the spokesman added.
London Fire Brigade also sent crews to the incident. Wayne Notley (@croydoncomputer) tweeted that the road was closed and four fire engines were on the scene. It is understood the fire engines may have been attending another incident.
