A PEOPLE carrier flipped onto its side in Derwent Drive, Purley this morning.
No-one was hurt in the incident at 8.30am but the entrance to the road was closed at the junction of Buttermere Garden. Police said main roads have remained open.
Police, London Ambulance Service and firefighters from Purley Fire Station were called to the scene. A firefighter from Purley said the car slid down the road, hit the kerb and rolled onto its side.
Eyewitness Alan Barnes said the car was driven by local parents, who only wanted to be identified as Andrew and Chris.
Mr Barnes said the driver lost grip on the steep hill of Buttermere Gardens.
He said: "Their car slid sideways into a tree before turning over and colliding into a parked car. With concerns of potential fuel spillage, local residents and other drivers worked together to help the occupants get out safely.
"The Ambulance, Police and the Fire Brigade services all arrived quickly to make the scene safe. Despite the unfortunate damage to the parked vehicle, it stopped the car from rolling further and possibly sliding down the road.
"Both occupants were shaken but relieved to be out of the over-turned car."
