A PROFESSIONAL food market launched as a new concept last March off Purley Way is to close its doors after less than a year.
Food supplier Brakes, which has been delivering products to the catering industry for about 80 years, chose Croydon as the destination for their first market.
But the company has now decided to open the consultation process for closing the store and abandon plans to open further professional food markets.
A Brakes statement said it is now focused on its online shopping ventures and the launch of its 'multi-temperature' service.
The statement also said the store, in Beddington Farm Road, was only ever meant to be a trial venture.
Brakes has today begun a consultation process to close the store and promise to offer support to its employees.
