A MAN in his 80s was seriously injured after he was involved in a collision with a lorry at Purley Cross at lunchtime today (Wednesday).
The accident happened at around 12.30pm at the junction of Russell Hill Road and Purley Way. A police spokesman said the man had been taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries to his arm. The injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The accident resulted in the closure of the A23 near the junction and southbound traffic was earlier reported to be queuing back to Purley Way's junction with Mill Lane, Croydon. Buses on routes 127, 289, 405, 434 and 455 are being diverted around the junction.
