WE LOVE a poem here at the Advertiser so thought we'd share one sent to us today, by reader John Oludotun Showemimo.
John, who says he has a "God-given gift" for verse, has penned this ode to Croydon and its many strengths, though we're not too sure about the "three feet" high buildings.
Croydon is a great place to live and work
The Whitgift and Centrale centres are close by
With good transport links and other shopping stores
See for yourself, come down and give it a try
The buildings dominate Croydon's skyline
Some of them are over three feet in height
From office blocks to multiple retail floors
This is what I call an amazing and pretty sight.
So much transport in the Borough of Croydon
Buses, National Rail, Overground and Tramlink
Getting around is very convenient and simple
It is much easier than you really think.
Let me tell you about the surrounding areas
Including Addiscombe and Gravel Hill
The Heathfield Centre is a magnificent place
The exotic flowers could certainly make you stand still.
Croydon is a great place to live and work
The Whigift and Centrale centres are close by
With good transport links and other shopping stores
See for yourself, come down and give it a try.
