JULIAN Speroni has exclusively told the Advertiser his disappointment at not receiving an apology from West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson following his dangerous challenge last Saturday.
The custodian was on the end of an elbow from the Baggies man as he went to claim the ball, which Victor Anichebe got to first to grab a goal back early in the second half.
Speroni says he didn't know who the offender was until he watched the replay back on television and says it could have been even worse had Dawson caught him elsewhere on his head.
"I am really disappointed with the whole situation – I can't understand how he got away with it really," the goalkeeper said.
"The fact this guy (Dawson) just ran from outside the six-yard box just towards me with no intention whatsoever of playing the ball and elbow me like that.
"Somebody has to do something. There has been no apology from him and it disappoints me. I was expecting something from the guy.
"It is hard to see these things not getting punished. What are people waiting for? I was quite lucky – if he caught me in a different area it could have been a lot worse than it was."
Speroni's full interview is set to feature in Friday's Croydon Advertiser and online over the weekend.
