FOOTAGE of a pub landlord giving two convicted burglars the fright of their lives with a baseball bat has been branded 'too hot for TV' by the BBC.

CCTV evidence of brothers Michael and John Ryan's interrupted break-in into The White Horse, in Selhurst Road, has already proved popular online – showing its topless former landlord Danny Foley defending his premises with a commemorative Celtic FC baseball bat.

But producers of BBC programme Caught Red Handed indicated this week it was unable to go ahead with its previous plan to show the incident, captured in November last year, as it was too violent.

Michael Ryan, 40, was jailed for seven years in May after admitting to a string of burglaries while his brother John, 42, was sentenced to 30 months last week.
