POLICE are asking parents to be vigilant after an 11-year-old girl was approached on her way to school on successive days by a stranger.
The girl was approached near the entrance to Beddington Park, in London Road, Wallington, on Wednesday, September 24, at around 7.30am. He asked her about her route to school before saying 'goodbye'. The girl did not speak to the man, who walked off towards Wallington Green.
The following day, the man started to speak to the girl at the same location at around the same time, but was challenged by a member of the public and then walked away.
The suspect is described as black, aged late 40s, about 5ft 7in tall and of slim build. He had stubbly, dark Afro Caribbean hair and a distinctive protruding bottom lip. He was wearing a baseball cap, dark jeans and hooded jacket.
Police are investigating and asking anyone with information to come forward. Officers have increased their patrols in the area.
