JULIAN Speroni says he and his Crystal Palace team-mates spoke about having a run in the Cup competitions this season during the summer.
The shot-stopper could sit out of the Eagles' Capital One Cup against Newcastle United on Wednesday night, as boss Neil Warnock rings the changes to give opportunities to other squad members.
Speroni wants to advance to the next round and isn't concerned that it may be a slight distraction to their league campaign either.
"We want to play every game but if it gives others a chance to play, I don't mind," he told the Advertiser.
"We want to do well in the Cup competitions. It's something we spoke about before the season started, to have a nice run.
"Even the fans will tell you what they would prefer and they'd say the Premier League is priority, but we want to win this game.
"We have a big squad and have good, good players who can come into the team. We need that, not just 11 players so we can rotate and give opportunities to others.
"Now there is a good balance and I'm looking forward to what's coming for us."
