CRYSTAL Palace defender Joel Ward says Saturday's goalless draw against Burnley is "a step in the right direction" following the international break. Ward reverted to left-back at Selhurst Park as part of the same defence that kept a number of clean sheets at the end of last season. And the 24-year-old wants to build on the clean sheet and point now ahead of matches against Everton and Leicester City in the league. "Every game is going to be tough and Saturday was no exception," Ward told the Advertiser. "We had chances. Scott Dann hit the crossbar and Wilfried Zaha cut inside and had a good shot. On another day we would have scored goals. "It went flat but we've just got to keep going and keep pushing. We'll pick up points at the end of the day. "If you stay in the game you have a chance to win it. We did that against Burnley and I felt we were unlucky not to do that. "But that's the Premier League, you're going to get draws. We got a draw, we got a point and it's a step in the right direction."
