A MAN has been convicted of cannabis production after police swooped on his 400-plant factory in Croydon on Sunday (September 7).

Officers executed a search warrant at an address in Edridge Road and uncovered the cannabis factory with 400 plants worth a street value of approximately £160,000.

Won Tin Zang, 31, pleaded guilty to production of cannabis and abstraction of electricity at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday and will be sentenced there on September 22.

PC Ross Sandiford, who investigated the case, said: "A substantial amount of drugs has been taken off the streets of Croydon, providing reassurance to residents that not only do emergency response officers provide a response to 999 calls, but also pro-actively seek out criminal behaviour to keep Croydon safe as part of the Commissioner's total war on crime."
