POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision in Purley where a pensioner was hit by a car while crossing the road.
The 77-year-old woman was seriously injured on Brighton Road near the junction with Old Lodge Lane at 8.30pm on Friday, August 8.
She died two days later at Croydon University Hospital, it has emerged.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "London Ambulance Service attended the scene and she was taken to a South London hospital with serious injuries.
"Her condition deteriorated and she died two days later. Her next of kin have been informed.
"The driver of the car, a black Peugeot 208, stopped at the scene."
