CRYSTAL Palace have been fined by the Premier League following a complaint by Cardiff City.
The Eagles were accused of spying on Cardiff's starting XI ahead of their game in Wales on Saturday, April 4.
Palace's sporting director Iain Moody, sacked by Cardiff last year, was reportedly the person involved in extracting information from a Bluebirds employee.
Palace went on to record a comfortable 3-0 win and secure their Premier League status following the result, which saw Jason Puncheon net twice either side of a Joe Ledley strike.
No figure has yet been revealed, but it looks like the fine will not exceed £25,000. STATEMENT:
"The Premier League Board has considered a complaint from Cardiff City regarding the conduct of a Crystal Palace official.
"The Board found that Crystal Palace breached Rule B.16 and has exercised its summary jurisdiction and fined the club."
In the league's rulebook, B.16 reads: "In all matters and transactions relating to the League each Club shall behave towards each other Club and the League with the utmost good faith.
Premier League rule W.7: "The Board's summary jurisdiction shall extend to any suspected or alleged breach of these Rules (other than a breach for which a fixed penalty is prescribed) which in its absolute discretion the Board considers should not be referred to a Commission under Rule W.3.4 or to the Football Association under Rule W.5."
Premier League rule W.8: "In exercising its summary jurisdiction the Board shall be entitled to impose a fine not exceeding £25,000.00 or, in the case of a breach of these Rules by a Manager, such sum as may be set out in any tariff of fines, or other penalty, agreed in writing between the Board and the League Managers Association."
Cardiff are not releasing comment at this time following the statement.
