ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his surprise at Tony Pulis' departure from Crystal Palace on the eve of the new season.
Palace are due to travel to the Emirates Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) to face Wenger's Arsenal side, but they will do so without Pulis, who left Selhurst Park by mutual consent last night (Thursday) after a reported clash with the board over the club's transfer policy.
And speaking at a press conference this morning (Friday) ahead of the match, Wenger said Pulis' exit from Palace came as a complete surprise to him.
He said: "I don't really know why he left, but it took me by surprise.
"The only thing I can say is that he's done a remarkable job last season and he made a miracle."
Wenger added that he did not know what impact Pulis' departure would have on the players at Crystal Palace, but said the Gunners would be prepared to face a tough opponent.
