POLICE talked down a man who was threatening to jump from the roof of the YMCA in Lansdowne Road this evening. The man was taken to hospital after being persuaded down from the roof of Palmer House just before 10pm, having been atop the building for just over three hours. Police cordoned off Lansdowne Road between St James's Road and Bedford Place after arriving on the scene at 6.20pm. They, along with the fire brigade, created a 'safe zone' below the building, which the man is believed to have climbed via scaffolding. A Met spokesman said the man was taken to hospital after he was talked down shortly before 10pm.
