THE sentencing of two teenagers who set fire to a derelict building - causing the death of a homeless man who was sleeping inside - has been delayed.
A 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were convicted of the manslaughter of Sylwester Mendzelewski and arson at Croydon Crown Court on Friday, June 27.
They were due to be sentenced today (Wednesday) but the case was adjourned to allow more time for a probation reports to be prepared.
Sentencing is now due to take place on August 18.
The pair, who cannot be named for legal reasons, started a blaze at the former headquarters of the Croydon Sea Cadets, in Davenant Road, Waddon, on June 10 last year.
Mr Mendzelewski, 35, was found dead inside the building after the fire was put out. A post mortem revealed he died of smoke inhalation.
