A CHILDREN'S football team based in Purley has helped to spread a little happiness to underprivileged youngsters in Ghana.
Shelton Athletic, who play their matches at Riddlesdown School, donated football kits to children at The Noyaa Association School, based in Jamestown, one of the most deprived areas of Ghana's capital, Accra.
The school was founded in 2012, as a project to lift the next generation of children out of poverty and give them a chance at a better future through education and sport.
Having heard about this project, William Tambling, chairman of Shelton Athletic, decided he wanted to give the children, and teachers, something to smile about - so on a recent business trip to the area, he stopped at the school armed with dozens of children's Shelton Athletic football kits.
William said: "There were many happy faces as the kids rushed to show their parents and friends.
"In Jamestown, a small gesture can make a huge difference."
