A WOMAN in her 40s was taken to Croydon University Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a fire in her ground floor flat at lunchtime today (Tuesday).
The fire in Longheath Gardens, Shirley was attended by fire crews from Woodside, Addington and Beckenham.
Watch manager, Kevin Webber from Woodside fire station, said: "When we arrived the woman was outside the flat and was suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to hospital."
He added: "The damage to the flat was quite extensive and it took about 20 minutes to put the fire out."
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
