CRYSTAL Palace defender Ryan Inniss was delighted to make his first appearance after nearly five months out with a hamstring injury on Friday evening.
Having been named in the club's Development Squad to face Havant and Waterlooville, the centre-back was given a few minutes at the end – as a striker.
But fans heading to the game against Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday can expect Inniss to be back in his normal position for around 30 minutes or so as he gradually ups his game time.
"I wasn't sure whether I was going to get a cameo or not, but at this stage of the season it's key to get a bit of fitness," the 19-year-old told the Advertiser.
"I may have only got around five minutes or so at the end but it's good to be back. Four to five months is a long time so it's good to be back among the lads and training.
"The gaffer Tony Pulis will be getting reports back so everyone will be doing the best they can.
"Fitness is fitness, Gary Issott (Academy boss) asked if I wanted to go on up front so I was happy to get up there and work myself.
"The hamstring is feeling better, it's strong and there is still a bit of scar tissue so I'll just be gradually upping my minutes in the next few games, starting at Dulwich hopefully."Follow me on Twitter @MR_LWMedia for interviews, matchday tweets and news on CPFC.
