FIREFIGHTERS spent hours tackling a grass fire at Cane Hill last night and into the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
A pile of logs, 40m by 10m was destroyed by the fire, though no-one was injured.
Crews from Purley, Croydon, Wallington, Mitcham and Norbury were called to the blaze near Coulsdon at 9.35pm yesterday.
They had the fire under control by 2am today, but crew are still at the scene, damping down remaining hot spots.
A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: "The Brigade was called at 2135 and the fire was under control at 0206.
"Crews remain at the scene damping down remaining hot spots of fire.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
