A TEENAGER is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed during a fight in Thornton Heath.
The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries during what police described as a "disturbance" involving a large group of men in London Road at 3.25am today (Saturday).
When police arrived they found the teenager had been stabbed multiple times the back.
London Ambulance Service was called and he was taken to a south London hospital where his condition is described as potentially life-threatening, a Scotland Yard spokesman said.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in Colliers Water Lane on suspicion of GBH and is currently in custody in a south London police station.
Croydon detectives are leading the investigation.
"Officers retain an open mind regarding the motive for the incident at this time," a spokesman said.
A stretch of London Road was closed off following the incident.
