A VIDEO shows a crowd throwing objects at police officers trying to shut down Saturday's illegal rave in East Croydon.
The clip, uploaded to YouTube, shows police officers in riot gear - including helmets and shields - being cornered outside the former Royal Mail delivery office in Cherry Orchard Road.
Recorded during the police's initial attempt to shut the rave down, the video shows a large group of people becoming increasingly restless.
Some can be seen to throw things at the police before the 20 or so officers retreat, prompting some within the crowd to cheer.
The Metropolitan Police say furniture and fire extinguishers were among the objects thrown at officers from the building. A police vehicle was damaged.
After allowing the event to continue, police cordoned off the area to prevent the disorder spreading, before moving in to clear the building at 8.30am.
A 15-year-old boy died in hospital today after falling ill during the rave.
It is understood he drank from a bottle of beer that contained ketamine.
Police have told the Advertiser they knew about the event more than a week before it happened, but an intelligence officer chose not to act on the information. An internal review is underway.
So far 14 people have been arrested for a variety of offences, including violent disorder.
