The Addiscombe Carnival parade has been cancelled for the second year running due to "various adverse conditions", its organisers have confirmed.
The carnival, organised by the Croydon Lions, is still due to take place on Sunday, May 25, in Ashburton Park.
But the parade has been cancelled because of bridge works reducing the potential length of the parade, a lack of local support and sponsorship and a lack of budget as a result.
The Spring Lane bridge works have caused traffic diversions and Croydon Council ordered the route be shortened.
A lack of sponsorship means there is no budget to hire items or a band to lead the parade.
Croydon Lions member Derek Withers apologised for the cancellation but said organisers felt there was no option in the circumstances.
