TONY Pulis has called on the Premier League and Football League to have local derbies for Boxing Day matches instead of some clubs travelling long distances.
The Eagles are set to face Aston Villa this year, and then 48 hours they travel further to Manchester City.
But Pulis believes it would be a good thing for football and at a time when finances are tested for supporters.
"Personally, I'd love to see those Christmas local derbies back for the supporters," Pulis said.
"It's ridiculous to ask Crystal Palace supporters to pay to go up to Birmingham (on Boxing Day).
"I'm a traditionalist. I think it's great (having football over Christmas). In today's game, I'd love to see local derbies."
Meanwhile, Pulis reiterated that he will be looking to strengthen his squad in January.
"It's important we deal with the Christmas period, then I'll be sitting down with Steve (Parish) and directors to see what we can do.," he said,
"There has to be certain change around. The attitude around the place has been brilliant but we do need some help.
"The game (football) means a lot to me. Every minute I'm in it, I thank God I've been lucky enough to do it."
