VIRGO Fidelis Convent Senior School is "good and rapidly improving", Ofsted has said.
In an encouraging report, published this week, inspectors praised the Catholic school's leadership team and above average GCSE results.
The education watchdog gave the school an overall rating of "good" - the second highest grade - following an inspection in November.
The report reserved particular praise for the students "spiritual, moral, social and cultural" development, which it said was "exceptionally well promoted".
Teaching was rated as good and improving.
"Teachers are keen to make it better, and training is planned well to address any weak practice," the report added.
Ofsted said head teacher Sister Bernadette must address the small amount of unsatisfactory teaching and better monitor pupils' progress in order to become an outstanding school.
