The Croydon Advertiser takes a daily look at who the gossip columns say Palace are in the hunt for and any other rumours from Selhurst Park...July 22
ACCORDING to the Daily Mirror and a number of online sources, Palace are looking to bring in striker Carlton Cole.
Three weeks ago, the Croydon Advertiser was told by a strong source the forward was physically at Selhurst Park to sign a deal – but it was then quashed by co-chairman Steve Parish.
However, it seems boss Ian Holloway wants to add free agent Cole to give his forward line further strength.
The Mirror also say Dan Gosling's move to Palace is getting nearer as discussions continue.
Meanwhile, the Daily Express has suggested former Eagle Andrew Johnson is set to snub a move back to SE25 in order to help Queens Park Rangers back to the Premier League.
He has been quoted: "QPR stood by me last season and I will do the same by them.
"I feel I owe them. I want to help them get back into the Premier League – where we belong."
Palace trialist Atdhe Nuhui impressed in Saturday's 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge but his agent Willie McKay says there are other clubs interested in the former Rapid Vienna striker.
He told Sky Sports: "Atdhe did well against Dagenham even he is not fully match fit yet as he has not had a pre-season yet.
"Ian Holloway likes him and Crystal Palace are in the driving seat to sign him but a number of other Premier League clubs are also interested in him.
"Atdhe is keen to play in England and he would be perfectly suited to play there.
"If he gets the right service he will score goals."
And reported striker target Yannick Sagbo, who has experience with Marseille in France, has been holding talks with Hull City over a move.
